Dr. Charlotte B. Tabereaux
Dr. Charlotte B. Tabereaux is the Education Director of the MSU Riley Center for Education and Performing Arts in Meridian, MS, since 2005. After teaching English, speech, and drama for 20 years, she served as an administration, in positions including principal, MDE senior education specialist, director of curriculum and federal programs. She has been an adjunct professor at MSU Meridian, the University of Louisville (KY), and Belhaven University in Jackson, and co-authored a book, Learning to Read through the Arts K-2 in 2003. She is a member of the Mississippi Alliance for Arts Education board and past president. Some of her awards include: 2004 MS Business Journal top three “50 Leading Business Women of Mississippi”; 2008 Outstanding Professional Woman at MSU; 2010 Red Rose Award Delta Kappa Gamma; 2013 MSU Zacharias Distinguished Staff Award; a national board member—the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network Leadership Committee in Washington, DC (2007-2009) and Kennedy Center’s Partners in Education Program Advisory Board (2012-2015). Recently, she wrote the application for Meridian to be accepted as the 23rd city in the nation to be a Kennedy Center “Ensuring the Arts for Any Given Child” site 2016-2020. Dr. Tabereaux has written and received over 45 grants as small as $1,000 and as large as $1.5 million.
