Althea Jerome

Kathryn Lewis and Althea Jerome have been Teaching Artists for the last 30+ years. Jerome is a musician/retired public music teacher and taught graduate and undergraduate college classes. Lewis has a background in theatre, arts integration, and taught and directed college theatre for 32 years. Jerome and Lewis have teamed to present professional development workshops/create interactive-interdisciplinary fully arts integrated lessons and units. They have been on MAC's Teaching Artist roster, TA Residencies for MAAE, Prime Time Reading Program presenters for the MS Humanities Council, and both are recipients of the Governor's Awards for Arts in Education as well as Awards from MAAE and are previously listed on the Southern Arts Federation Roster. Lewis is one of the authors for the 3rd grade informational texts: "The Watershed and Me...A-Z" and "The Longleaf and Me...A-Z" -- both informational books developed for 3rd grade+. Lewis and Jerome developed the lesson plans for both books and presented the lesson and books throughout MS.
