Dr. Jeanne Gillespie is Professor of Spanish and American Indian Studies. Her current research examines Amerindian accounts of exploration and conquest throughout the Gulf South. She is also working on a collection of oral Isleño texts that reflect life and language in South Louisiana's Spanish-speaking communities.
